Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS) has started a new project titled “Women’s Work in Agriculture and Rural Production in India”. This project will examine the secondary and primary sources of data in order to understand women’s work in different agricultural and non-agricultural occupations. One component of the project will be based on labour diaries of women in selected villages. The labour diary follows the time-use methodology and each selected woman will be interviewed several times a day for one week continuously. The pilot for labour diary began in Siresandra Village, Kolar District of Karnataka on May 11, 2017. In Siresandra, we have selected based on earlier PARI (Project for Agrarian Relations in India) survey of 2009, ten women, two each from rich, middle, peasant households and four women from hired manual worker household.
