Arindam Das, Mrityunjay Pandey, and Rakesh Kumar Mahato presented a seminar titled, “Socio-economic classes in the two study villages of Bihar” at the office of the Foundation on Friday, September 28, 2018.

The presentation began with Arindam explaining the idea of differentiation in the Indian countryside. He discussed the method used by the Project on Agrarian Relations in India (PARI) to classify households in the study villages into different socio-economic classes.
Mrityunjay and Rakesh then went on to elaborate the methods of class categorization as applied in the two villages in Bihar – Katkuian, West Champaran district, and Nayanagar, Samastipur district. These two villages were first surveyed by FAS in May-July 2012. They have been resurveyed in June 2018.
