FAS Team Visits Andhra Pradesh as part of PARI
A research team from FAS visited Andhra Pradesh as part of a scoping visit under the Project on Agrarian Relations in India (PARI) between March 28 and April 1, 2026. The team comprised Arindam Das, Joint Director, FAS, and Sai Chandan Kotu, Senior Research Assistant at the Foundation.
As part of the visit, the team visited Vijayawada and the West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. The objective of the visit was to get a preliminary understanding of the ongoing socio-economic changes in these two regions. The team collected information on cropping patterns, demographics, sources of employment and incomes, and certain region-specific economic activities such as inland fisheries. Interviews were conducted with sub-district and panchayat-level government officials, panchayat-level public representatives, rural households from different socio-economic groups, and other local informants.
The team is preparing a report on the pre-pilot visit for internal discussion and to determine the next steps.
