About FAS: The Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS) is a charitable trust established in 2003 and based in Bangalore, India. It is engaged in field-based research on agrarian issues. The major objective of the Foundation is to facilitate multi-disciplinary theoretical and empirical research in the field of agrarian studies in India and other less-developed countries. The employee strength of the Foundation is around 12-15.

Position: Intern
Duration: Two months

Purpose: The Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS) invites applications for a full-time internship as part of an ongoing research project titled “Comprehensive Research on Canal Irrigation System and Agriculture in the Cauvery River Basin: 2000 to now”. The project explores the relationship between irrigation systems and socio-economic outcomes from agriculture for rural cultivators in the Cauvery River basin. The internship will focus on field research in Mandya district, Karnataka, and associated data work. The intern will principally work from the FAS office in Bengaluru on various aspects of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • The internship involves field visits to Mandya district, Karnataka, to assist with surveys, interviews, and case studies.
  • Other responsibilities will include entering, cleaning, and analysing primary and secondary data.

Eligibility:

  • Fluency in Kannada, both spoken and reading.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Agriculture, or a Master’s degree (pursuing or completed) in either field.
  • Experience with socio-economic surveys and knowledge of agriculture are desirable.

Remuneration: As per qualifications and experience.
