Conference on
Women’s Work in Rural Economies
November 30 to December 2, 2018
Announcement
The Foundation for Agrarian Studies is currently at work on a research project titled “Women’s Work in Rural Economies.” The objective of the project is to document, describe, and analyse the myriad activities, economic as well as non-economic, in which women in rural India and other parts of the world are engaged, and the relationships into which they enter as part of the process of production.
As part of the project, the Foundation is holding an international conference on women’s work in rural economies, with particular emphasis on agriculture and rural production. The conference is being organised in partnership with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung and M S Swaminathan Research Foundation.
We invite contributions based on international experiences from data-based research on the following themes:
- Labour Force Issues: defining, identifying and valuing women’s work in rural areas
- Women in Agriculture: crop production and related primary-sector activity
- Rural Non-Agricultural Work
- Migration of women for work
- Overlapping Discrimination at Work: gender and other forms of social exclusion and discrimination
