T. Sivamurugan and Shamsher Singh from the Foundation participated in a “National Seminar on the Dynamics of Rural Labour Relations and Markets in India: Issues, Dimensions and Processes” organised by the S.R. Sankaran Chair (Rural Labour), National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad from March 10 to 12, 2016. The title of Sivamurugan’s presentation was “Features of Non-Farm Employment in Karnataka” and the title of Shamsher’s presentation was “Housing and Labour Relations: A Study of Long-term Workers in Rural Rajasthan.”

The seminar focussed changes in rural labour markets and the role of such change in social transformation in rural India. The seminar was attended by prominent economists and scholars of rural India from research institutes across the country.
